Ayurvedic Copper Water Bottles, Handmade in India

Every bottle in this collection is 100% pure copper — no lining, no plating, no stainless-steel core — shaped and finished by hand by coppersmiths in India. One litre, leak-proof lid, and a weight that feels like a real object rather than a disposable one.

In Ayurveda, the practice of storing drinking water overnight in a copper vessel is called tamra jal, and families have kept it for generations. We make the vessels and we describe the practice as exactly that — a tradition, not a treatment.

Choosing between the three finishes

  • Smooth — the classic. A clean, polished copper surface that shows its colour and its patina most clearly. The one to pick if you want the bottle to look like what it is.
  • Hammered — each dimple is struck by hand, so no two are identical. It catches light beautifully and it hides the small scuffs of daily carrying better than any other finish.
  • Antique black — an oxidised finish with a deep, dark tone and copper showing through the high points. The quietest of the three, and the one people ask about most.

All three hold the same one litre and use the same leak-proof lid. The choice is entirely about how you want it to look on your desk in five years.

What "100% pure copper" actually means

A lot of bottles sold as copper are stainless steel with a copper-coloured coating. Two quick tests tell them apart: a magnet will cling to a steel bottle and slide straight off a copper one, and real copper develops a patina over time while a coating simply does not. Ours are solid copper inside and out, which is also why they need a little care.

Looking after it

Copper tarnishes — that is the metal behaving normally, not a fault. Lemon juice and salt brings it back in about two minutes. Our guide to cleaning a copper water bottle walks through the method, how often to do it, and what should never go in the bottle.
